Zhuhai, the city of romance, will join forces with Salzburg, the city of music, to host a top-level international classical music competition --- Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians.

This biennial competition will be co-hosted by the Zhuhai Municipal Government and the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, this is the only international competition in mainland China that cooperates with a first-class music institution abroad. The internationally renowned conductor Zubin Mehta accepted the position of honorary president. This competition supported by the Chinese Musicians Association, China International Culture Association and the Embassy of the Republic of Austria. The aim is to establish one of the most authoritative and professional music competitions for young performers in the world. The first competition, consisting of categories for the piano and the violin, will be held in Zhuhai from 13 to 26 September 2015.
