Heinz MEDJIMOREC
Born in Vienna in 1940. Studied with Richard Hauser at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (now: University of Music and Perfoming Arts) in his hometown.
He won several prizes in International Competitions (1st Prize Mozart Competition Salzburg 1956, 2nd Prize Geneva 1960 and others).
Started his carreer at the age of 20, concertizing in Europe, the Middle East and the USA.
Recitals with classical, romantic and impressionistic repertoire (among others all piano works by Ravel), piano concertos ( as soloist with Wiener Symphoniker, London Symphony, RSO Berlin, RSO Vienna, Belgrad, Ljubljana), Radio- and TV- recordings.
Since 1968 he has been pianist of the „Haydn Trio of Vienna“. With this ensemble he toured North- and South America, Africa, Japan and all of Europe. The trio played a special chamber music cycle in Vienna (4-5 concerts per year) from 1976 to 2006 and made LP–and CD-recordings for the labels Teldec, Warner Apex, Arabesque New York and Musica Vienna.
Heinz Medjimorec also accompanied well known singers like Edith Mathis, Peter Schreier, Hans Hotter, Kurt Equiluz, Wolfgang Holzmair and others. For many years the Austrian pianist Hans Petermandl was his partner in works for piano duo.
Medjimorec gave solo- and chamber music masterclasses in Europe, Australia, Japan and in the USA. He was a jury member in many international competitions (Bremen, Dublin, Cologne, Geneva, Munich, Sydney, Vienna etc.).
From 1975 until 2008 he was teaching as a professor for concert pianists at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He is now professor emeritus.
