Friedemann EICHHORN
As the director of the International Louis Spohr Competition for Young violinists in Weinar and director of Kornberg Academy Masters, Friedemann Eichhorn was born in Münster, Germany, and studied violin with Valery Gradow at the Mannheim University of Music. He continued his studies with Alberto Lysy at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland, then went on to study at the Julliard School, where he worked with Margaret Pardee. Furthermore he was greatly influenced by Saschko Gawriloff.
Eichhorn regularly performs with renowned orchestras in international venues, including the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and Symphony, the Munich and Hamburg Symphonies, the Radio orchestra of the SWR (Südwestrundfunk), Corean Chamber Orchestra and many others. He has worked and performed with Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer, Igor Oistrach and the late Lord Yehudi Menuhin. Eichhorn has recorded numerous CDs, for the Hänssler Classics, Oehms and Naxos labels, among them the premiere recordings of the complete 13 violin concertos by Pierre Rode (conducted by Nicolas Pasquet), the complete Liszt works for violin and piano (with R. D. Arens), as well as concertos by Haydn and Mozart. With cellist Alexander Hülshoff he has discovered and recorded duo works by Servais, Kummer, Hermann, Francois Schubert and others.
Friedemann Eichhorn is professor of violin at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar, Germany, and for many years has given masterclasses at the Mozarteum Salzburg. His students have won prizes in numerous competitions. As Director of Kornberg Academy Masters, Friedemann Eichhorn leads one of the most respected study programs for young soloists. A frequent competition juror, Eichhorn is Director of the International Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinists in Weimar. He edits violin works for Schott Music.
